Georgian mansion could be yours .... for just £2

- By Michael Knowles

A MANSION could be yours for the cost of a raffle ticket after its owner opted for a unique way to sell it off.

Father-of-two Dunstan Low is putting Melling Manor in Lancashire on the market by selling tickets at just £2 each.

The 37-year-old resorted to the drastic action after failing to find a buyer for the Georgian property.

He put more than 500,000 tickets up for sale to avoid it being repossessed.

Within 24 hours Mr Low had raised £1,500 and he has received interest from Australia, Italy and America.

The internet marketing man and graphic designer has seen his income fall dramatically after struggling to find work.

Mr Low originally bought the property for £435,000 and spent £150,000 on renovations.

Mr Low said: “When we looked around it I fell in love with its grandeur and size. I don’t think it would look out of place in London.

“After talking to many estate agents and quick buy companies, we believe it is in our best interest to take the sale of our property into our own hands, while offering someone else the opportunity to own and enjoy the property as their own. I had been thinking about doing this on and off for a few years now but so far hadn’t acted.”

Mr Low moved to the mansion in 2011 with wife Natasha, 32 and their two children, Ozzy, five and Dylan, 15.

He has considered renting it out but is concerned that tenants would not take proper care of it.
