Amanda: I had therapy after trauma of childbirth
BRITAIN’S Got Talent judge Amanda Holden had weeks of therapy after nearly dying during childbirth.
The actress, 46, was treated for a massive haemorrhage after giving birth to second daughter Hollie in 2012.
The near-death experience came just a year after the loss of her son Theo who was stillborn at seven months.
The mother of two has admitted that the grief from both traumas forced her to seek help.
Anxieties
She said: “It was like grief counselling. I wasn’t coping and had to do something about it. I’m not a believer in anti-depressants if you can find a way to avoid doing so. “But I’m an incredibly pragmatic person and I understood I had to get someone to help me.” Amanda, who is also a stand-in presenter on ITV’s This Morning, said therapy helped her to change the way she thinks, as well as conquer her anxieties. But she ditched the support a month later, claiming the therapy had served its purpose. She added: “For me it was about being given a new set of tools and moving on.”
