Archer all aquiver after dream draw

- By Nigel Clarke

MILLWALL goalkeeper Jordan Archer has seen a dream come true after the Lions landed Tottenham in the FA Cup quarter-finals.

Archer walked away from Spurs where he began his career because he wanted to become a No 1 in his own right.

Now, as Millwall’s first choice, he will find himself back at White Hart Lane next month for a confrontation that will become the highlight of his career.

Archer, 23, achieved his third successive cup shut-out against Premier League opposition in the competition to help KO champions Leicester on Saturday.

Archer still has ties at Tottenham and said: “I suppose Leicester edging out Spurs for the title last season did make it a little more satisfying to beat them.”

Lions manager Neil Harris said: “Jordan came here because he was desperate to become first choice even at a young age. “He has a hunger, an appetite to be better. When I left him out last season he was banging my door down – he doesn’t like being dropped. “Jordan has now shown his quality. Like most players he had a little dip in form but when we have needed him to come up with big moments he has. He just wants to learn, wants to play and wants to win. He has been exceptional and is getting better. He has a big future with us. “The days of us taking a player because of his name or the club he played for have gone. We may miss out on good players at times but we only take those who we believe can fit into the mentality of our club.” Archer won the player-of-theyear award after helping Millwall to the Division One play-off final last season. Now he is aiming for another Wembley appearance.
