Light options for brighter days

There’s an easy new way to dine on those longer summer days, says GEORGE NICHOLS

-

SUMMER is a time for relaxing – not a time for worrying what you need to cook for dinner. Even now, as the first warm days start to appear, time is much better spent enjoying the garden and countryside walks rather than slaving for hours in the kitchen. Yet we don’t want to give up the joy of home-cooked meals. The solution? Get home cooking delivered to your door.

Oakhouse Foods offers the largest range of home delivered, frozen meals and desserts in the UK and there’s something for every taste, particularly on those summer days.

And they’re perfect whether you find cooking for one a chore or whether you have a family to feed and need fast, on-the-go options.

A new summer menu selection has just been launched with lighter fare for those lighter days.

The 18 new recipes include everything from the Mediterranean magic of lamb meatballs with penne pasta to three colourful salad pots, great for enjoying chilled as a refreshing lunch.

There’s even a new summer breakfast – waffles topped with fruit.

Yet the range also includes more than 300 dishes for when the weather’s not quite so good, including a wealth of British favourites.

Oakhouse is all about good, wholesome cooking inspired by traditional recipes, making meals that taste like they were cooked from scratch at home. The prices go down well, too, with Mini Meals, a 70-plus range taking in a roast chicken dinner and new sweet & sour chicken, starting at £2.35. Delivery’s free on orders over £30 with a charge of £1 below that.

As well as Mini Meals and 160 main courses, Oakhouse Foods’ range also features a variety of vegetable side dishes, 11 soups and 60-plus hot and cold desserts, including ice-cream.

Dishes suit most dietary requirements, including gluten free, low fat, low sugar and calorie controlled, all simply noted and the added aid of the dietary tool on the website.

There are Easy Order Packs – a variety of weekly menus with seven main dishes and optional desserts under simple price codes. Ideal for the coming season is the Mini Light Bites Pack, seven Mini Meals for £22.50. Orders can be placed at the door, over the phone or on the easy-touse website.

Oakhouse is also the country’s only home meals service to offer groceries, from everyday essentials such as milk and bread to leading brands.

Everything’s delivered by a trusted, regular local driver who’s happy to pop meals into the freezer and even help with simple household tasks such as changing a light bulb.

So with those lighter evenings now on their way, Oakhouse’s summer menus can increasingly be enjoyed as the sun sets, sometimes even in the garden.

And all can be prepared in minutes – ideal if you want to catch the last of the day’s warmth.
