McIlroy can jolt Johnson

McILROY: Bjorn backing RORY McILROY sets out on his Masters quest today backed as the beauty who can stop the beast that is Dustin Johnson in his present devastatin­g form.

Johnson, the world No1, has won his last three events to head into the season’s opening Major as hot favourite, but European Ryder Cup captain Thomas Bjorn believes McIlroy has the firepower to take down the American.

“Rory is about the only one who can stand up to Dustin the way he has been playing,” said Bjorn. “Jason Day and Jordan Spieth probably come very close but Rory is the only one who can match and even beat him if he gets his game going.

“If those two get going with their ‘A’ games they are going to be very difficult to keep up with. The quality Dustin has EDEN HAZARD’S double kept Chelsea in pole position for the Premier League title – but Spurs remain hot on their heels with a late win at Swansea.

Hazard’s brace – his second a rebound after Willy Caballero had saved his penalty – saw Chelsea bounce back from their loss to Crystal Palace on Saturday. And it looked like they were set to move 10 points clear as Spurs trailed to a goal from Wayne Routledge until the 88th minute.

But Dele Alli levelled with just two minutes left and Tottenham went on to win it after Son Heung-Min made it 2-1 in the last minute, before Christian Eriksen added some gloss with a third in injury-time.
