HAVING made a name for himself as one fifth of One Direction it seems that Harry Styles’ first foray into the world of solo stardom has gone down well.

He debuted his hotly anticipated new single Sign Of The Times on BBC Radio 1’s Breakfast Show yesterday.

The rock ballad, which starts simply with sombre piano chords before building to a soaring dramatic chorus complete with choir, has already been compared to David Bowie’s Life On Mars.

Reaction to the record has been largely positive as you might imagine considering the 23-year-old’s huge fanbase. His early morning debut on the airwaves caused a sensation online with his nearly 30million followers on Twitter going wild for the track. One tweeted: “The music industry should just retire because Harry has won.” Another said: “Raise your hand if you’ve been listening to Sign Of The Times on repeat all day.” However the heavily tattooed singer has received some criticism because the song shares the same title as a 1987 hit by the late musician Prince.
