DJ’s stalker had stash of child images

- By John Twomey

RADIO 2 DJ Sara Cox is seeking a restraining order after getting letters from a stalker calling her “sexy and attractive”, a court heard yesterday.

The star and her family were targeted by Anthony Collins, who described himself in his letters as “disturbed and schizophrenic”.

After his arrest in February, Collins, 49, was found to have child abuse images on his computer.

Judge Martin Joy adjourned sentencing at Maidstone Crown Court for preparation of psychiatric reports.

Mary Jacobson, prosecuting, is applying for an order stopping Collins from visiting Ms Cox’s home or workplace, her husband Ben Cyzer’s work and her sister’s home. She said: “There is also an application for a Sexual Harm Prevention Order.”

Collins said he found the address of Ms Cox, 42, for a £17 fee online.

She first got a letter in distinctive green felt pen more than a year before she complained to police. In further notes he spoke of being lonely and his “extensive criminal record”.

Ms Jacobson told the court he asked: “What would you do if you lost your health? I am lonely. I live in a bedsit for poor people. I am unhappy.”

She said he added: “I know you are married to Ben Cyzer and he is a successful man. I know you are an ambassador for Centrepoint homeless for London. Don’t feel sad for me. I listen a lot to Radio 2 and your show.”

On February 7 he wrote to Mr Cyzer with a snap of mother-of-three Ms Cox and a baby. Ms Jacobson said: “When he told his wife, she was understandably much more scared.”

Collins, of Chatham, Kent, admitted harassment, two counts of possessing indecent images of a child and two counts of making indecent images of a child. DJ Sara Cox and her family were the target of disturbing letters from a stalker
