Honeysuckle back after difficult year
FOLLOWING her muchpublicised mysterious disappearance last July, Foyle’s War star Honeysuckle Weeks is about to return to acting.
Honeysuckle has announced that after an almost year-long hiatus she will star in a one-off West End production of new play, Young Girl. “Young Girl – a brilliant new play by award winning playwright Adam Hughes about doubt, dignity and the familial sway!” she tweeted.
The free matinee performance tomorrow at the Theatre Royal Haymarket is a “gentle return” for the 37-year-old who hit the headlines last year after going missing while undergoing psychiatric treatment.
The mum-of-one – who is married to hypnotherapist Lorne Stormonth-Darling – disappeared during a stay as a voluntary patient at a care centre near her home in West Sussex, resulting in a police appeal for her whereabouts. Honeysuckle, who had reportedly been suffering from anxiety, was later found seemingly well at an address in London.
Shortly after her disappearance a neighbour hinted that the anxiety could have been exacerbated by the actress and husband Lorne’s regular screaming matches. The arguments were said to be so intense that the source likened them to “an EastEnders special”.
The couple’s marital home went on the market shortly after her return.
Last July’s disappearance was not the first time the Oxford graduate has sparked concern for her wellbeing. In 2015 she was caught speeding with her five-year-old son Wade in the back when she was serving a driving ban. Following sentencing she was made to wear an electronic tag and a nightly curfew was imposed for a month.
