“In the last two seasons the team that won the league hasn’t played in Europe that season,” he said.
“I congratulate Chelsea on what they’ve done but you see when they play in Europe it’ll be a different story.
“I feel that in Spain, Real Madrid can win games by playing at a lower percentage of the maximum. Bayern is similar – they dominate the German championship.”
Tomorrow night Arsenal tackle Sunderland as they again chase a place Champions League.
Defender Rob Holding said: “There’s a feeling that we can do it. The confidence has been there the last few games so we’ve just got to keep the momentum going.”
It is all adding up to a disappointing end to the season for Stoke, and striker Saido Berahino said the players are feeling it.
