Another summer, another surge in migration figures
EVERY new Islamist atrocity in western Europe is now accompanied by a deluge of platitudes from the establishment. The politicians speak earnestly of defiance, unity and solidarity. They promise us protection while assuring us of the ultimate triumph of our democracy.
But, as the catalogue of bloodshed mounts, that rhetoric sounds increasingly hollow. We are warned against division, yet in reality our European societies are more divided than ever because of the ruling elite’s obsession with mass immigration and multiculturalism.
We are lectured about the dangers of intolerance, yet what could be more intolerant than the barbaric, misogynist, primitive Islamist culture that has been imported into our lands? We are told to “carry on as normal”, even while the authorities allow at least 3,000 known jihadists, such as the Manchester killer Salman Abedi, to live in our neighbourhoods.
Yet the politicians refuse to recognise that the Europe they have built is one where extremism deepens and integration is giving way to segregation. The politicians tell us that the terrorism will not “change our way of life”. But governments across Europe are deliberately transforming the very fabric of our civilisation through their dogma about open borders. Due to the colossal influxes of foreigners, we are living through by far the biggest social revolution in Europe’s history.
IN BRITAIN, about 600,000 newcomers have been arriving every single year for almost a decade. Christianity, the bedrock of our European heritage, is dying out. Islam is growing rapidly. As Douglas Murray writes in his new book, The Strange Death Of Europe: “By the end of the lifespans of most people currently alive, Europe will not be Europe and the peoples of Europe will have lost the only place in the world they had to call home.”
Tragically the revolution is about to accelerate if the latest official analyses are to be believed. This week a confidential European intelligence report, which has yet to be verified, was leaked to the German newspaper Bild, revealing that 6.6 million migrants are now gathered in countries on the shores of the southern Mediterranean, waiting to make the journey to Europe.
There are said to be at least 2.5 million such migrants in North Africa alone, including more than a million in the failed state of Libya from where the family of Manchester bomber Salman Abedi originated.
These disturbing statistics are all too believable. As the leaked intelligence report points out, since the end of January alone, the number of people waiting to cross into Europe has risen by 650,000 – an increase of 12 per cent. Even this may be a gross underestimate of the problem.
In February an alarming study by Austrian military intelligence, an agency of the Austrian armed forces, predicted that growing unemployment and poverty in Africa mean that over the next three years there could be as many as 15 million migrants seeking to enter Europe.
Any normal, self-confident society would try to defend itself against this tidal wave. But our politicians are so filled with self-loathing for European Christian civilisation, so contemptuous of traditional national identities, and so desperate to parade their fake compassion that they will soon preside over another migrant crisis, just as they colluded in the decision of Germany’s Chancellor Angela Merkel to open the floodgates in 2015.
In the eastern Mediterranean they will probably allow the newly elected, ever more despotic Turkish president Recep Erdogan, a supporter of Islamic fundamentalism, to rip up the recent agreement that restricted the flow of migrants from his country into Europe.
Even more disastrously they will step up their ferry shuttle along the central Mediterranean route from North Africa to Italy. At present the European agencies, aided by a stream of volunteer groups, frequently pick up passengers from migrant boats a few miles off the Libyan coast. But they do not take them back to Africa. Instead, they transport them more than 300 miles to southern Italy. To describe these journeys as “rescue operations” is farcical. What they actually represent is a gigantic maritime taxi service for bogus asylum seekers.
Like the institutionalised feebleness in the face of jihadism, the Mediterranean ferry service is another symbol of Europe’s suicidal selfabasement. The estimated number of migrant sailings from North Africa grew by a third in the first few months of this year compared to 2016.
THIS huge influx is not only unsustainable for European economies but is also a recipe for more dislocation and conflict. One chilling document captured from Islamic State in February 2015 referred to the “immense potential” of the Libyan gateway. “It has a long coast and looks upon the southern Crusader states which can be reached with ease by a rudimentary boat.”
Unless resolute action is taken to secure its borders and uphold its culture, Europe in its present form will soon be lost. The late Libyan dictator Colonel Gaddafi once said that “there are signs that Allah will grant Islam victory in Europe”, leading to “a Muslim continent in a few decades”.
Cloaked in sentimentality, the pathetic appeasement by our rulers makes his words look prophetic.
