WHITNEY DOCUMENTARY CASTS DOUBT ON HER PAST
FANS of Whitney Houston might face fresh anguish when a new documentary about her life airs.
Whitney: Can I Be Me will be broadcast on US channel Showtime this Friday and casts doubt on the view that it was her former husband Bobby Brown who introduced her to drugs. “It’s a fairytale,” says director Rudi
Dolezal. “The idea that Whitney was a great girl until Bobby came along is simply not true. Whitney took drugs a long time before she could even spell Bobby Brown.”
The film features interviews with people close to her including her brother Michael. In an interview on US television in 2013 Michael admitted to introducing her to drugs while she was a teenager. “In the 1980s it was acceptable. Drugs wasn’t a bad word like it is now,” he said.
The singer died in 2012 from a drug overdose.
