Izquierdo has right attitude

- Alex Crook

BRIGHTON record buy Jose Izquierdo has vowed to prove he is worth his £13.5million price tag when he makes his debut against Barnet tonight.

Izquierdo, which means ‘left’ in Spanish, completed his move from Belgian side Club Brugge on Sunday after being granted international clearance and is set to feature in the second round of the Carabao Cup at the Amex Stadium.

Colombian wide-man Izquierdo, above, who signed a four-year deal, said: “The transfer fee is motivation. We always feel pressure but if they pay that, it is because it is deserved.

“I have to work every day to improve myself and give everything to the club. They are a team that believe in me. They came to me, showed the project they have for Brighton and the new challenge. “The Premier League is a top league. I hope I can show all my qualities and help the team.” Last night Brighton took their summer spending past £40m by signing Ghana striker Raphael Dwamena in an £8m deal. The 6ft Dwamena, 21, has agreed a four-year contract to join the Seagulls from Swiss side FC Zurich, where he scored 30 goals in 38 games last season. SWANSEA have had a bid accepted for Hull midfielder Sam Clucas and expect the transfer to be completed within the next 48 hours.

The deal is worth £15 million with another potential £1.5m in add-ons.

Swansea targeted Clucas, right, following the club-record sale of Gylfi Sigurdsson to Everton last week for a fee of £45 m.
