Icing on the cake for Bilic
SLAVEN BILIC was handed the best birthday present possible as West Ham won their first Premier League match, banked their first points of the season – and ended promoted Huddersfield’s unbeaten start.
Playing at home for the first time after the London Stadium had staged the World Athletics Championships, the Hammers finally got out of the blocks with two goals in five minutes through Pedro Obiang and Andre Ayew.
Not that it was a fast start as they waited until the 72nd minute to break the deadlock as Obiang’s shot took two deflections before going in.
Ayew then eased the nerves to score after a corner leaving Bilic to celebrate turning 49 in style.
