Girl, 17, is victim of three sex assaults by five different men

- By John Twomey

A GIRL aged 17 was sexually assaulted by five attackers in three separate assaults as she walked home after a night out, police revealed yesterday.

For an hour, the victim was subjected to sickening attacks by men she hoped wanted to help her.

She was drugged before the final assault, police believe. Her ordeal finally ended when passers-by spotted her as she lay semi-conscious on the ground.

Detective Inspector Suzanne Jordan said: “This is a horrific multiple sexual assault on an young female who was simply making her way home after a night out.

Intervened

“We would like to thank the members of the public who intervened to help her and possibly prevented her ordeal from continuing even further.

“We believe two of the three were very serious sexual assaults indeed, and we are determined to catch the persons responsible for these hideous crimes.”

Yesterday, Scotland Yard released images of two men detectives want to trace in connection with the attacks.

The first was shortly before midnight on Friday, September 29, as the teenager walked home from a nightclub in Tower Hamlets, east London. CCTV shows her being man in dark clothing.

The pair went into a doorway and the man removed items of the girl’s clothing. They were later found nearby. The man is not seen again on camera but the victim was then picked up by CCTV cameras on a different road.

Police say that shortly after midnight she was being stalked by a second attacker who was on a bicycle.

The bearded man followed the teenager as she headed towards Bethnal Green overground station.

He caught up with her and, after assaulting her, left the scene.

Her clothing dishevelled, she staggered farther down the same street and into the clutches of two more sex attackers at about 12.45am.

Police say they were then joined by a third man and detectives believe the girl may have been drugged before she was sexually assaulted under trees.

Sprawled on the ground and in a state of distress, she was finally rescued when a passer-by called police.
