Travel insurance should be compulsory for all visitors
GOOD comments by James Price, campaigns manager of the TaxPayers’ Alliance but he still didn’t go far enough (“It’s time we cracked down on health tourism”, October 26).
Travel insurance should be compulsory for all foreigners coming to Britain and one of the conditions of obtaining a visa should be written proof that insurance is in place.
The present system is totally crazy. One example is that while Canadian friends of ours were visiting London, the wife suffered an injury requiring A&E treatment.
When my friend asked how much it would cost he was told “nothing”. They had travel insurance, so why weren’t they charged? The whole system needs overhauling.
