£13.3billion up in smoke as UK drowns in debt
WHO can justify giving away £13.3billion of taxpayers’ money in such a random manner without being able to show any positive results, while people at home are denied aid they need because of austerity (“Foreign Aid: Put Britain First”, October 26)?
India, has one of the fastest growing economies in the world with space exploration and nuclear programmes, yet was donated £279million.
Britain’s wasted foreign aid money could provide thousands of nurses, policeman and care home places. Just imagine how this could benefit our country.
More honesty and common sense are required. My pensioners’ entitlement to free bus travel is confirmed by a swipe of a card, same as paying at the store checkout.
With personal ID cards, a swipe at the hospital reception would confirm entitlement. It would save a few million. And using experienced aid providers would get value for money and save billions. James Byers, Salisbury, Wilts
