Holloway humbles high fliers

- Ivan Speck

THEY may not have the budget to compete at the top end of the division but Ian Holloway’s QPR are helping to shape the Championship.

This win stopped the expensively assembled visitors returning to the top of the table at the expense of Sheffield United, who come to Loftus Road tomorrow night.

cancelled out Conor Washington’s stirring opener for Rangers.

Northern Ireland striker Washington would be happy if QPR were to face only promotion-chasing sides for the remainder of the season. He said: “We seem to do better against the better teams. They are probably going to have the ball a little more than us and move the ball quicker.

“We seem to struggle a bit against the teams who give us a bit of the ball, so we need to work on a formula to get points off those teams. That’s a different challenge.

“I watched the Sheffield United game on Friday night. They are a good side and we’re looking forward to testing again.”

Wolves travel to Norwich tomorrow and then host Fulham on Friday in a week that will test their promotion potential.

“It is impossible to win every game and we cannot stay too much time in sorrow,” said manager Nuno Espirito Santo.

“We have to hit back, step up and show that we want to be really high.” ourselves
