Clooney’s big burger secret

NOW well known as a resident of the picturesque village of Sonning in Berkshire, George Clooney is pleased with its proximity to London and the posh dinner parties he attends.

However the 56-year-old is also happy to be so close to the town of Reading because that’s where he gets his fast-food fix too.

“We go to Reading to go to McDonald’s,” says the father of twins Ella and Alexander with human rights lawyer wife Amal.

Continuing his love-in with Sonning, which is twinned with Liguge in western France, he adds: “We’re only 50 minutes out of London so you can get there for dinners.

“It’s not like Oxford, way out. You get a little privacy and we have five acres.”

It appears his privacy extends to the popular burger chain. When we called all three branches in Reading to enquire about George’s visits, they either said they “weren’t at liberty to divulge that information”, or that they hadn’t seen him “but he might have used the drive thru”.

George, who last appeared in front of the camera in – ironically – 2016 film Money Monster, insists cash is no longer his motivation – so we’ve seen less of him on screen recently.

“Acting used to be how I paid the rent but I sold a tequila company [Casamigos Tequila] for a billion dollars. I don’t need money!”
