JUBILANT Boreham Wood boss Luke Garrard saluted his history makers after the National League side knocked out 1953 FA Cup winners Blackpool.

Their 2-1 victory was the first time they have ever beaten league opposition. Garrard said: “We have created history at the club. We showed great character coming from a goal behind. I don’t care who we get in the next round!”

The League One side went ahead in the 62nd minute through Danny Philliskirk.

Blair Turgott stepped off the bench to level six minutes later and fellow substitute Dan Holman’s 88th minute winner sealed a second-round spot.

Slough, from the seventh-tier, thrashed Gainsborough 6-0 with Matt Lench grabbing a hat-trick.

Slough joint-manager Neil Baker said: “Our lads were excellent from start to finish. Some of the goals were top drawer.”

Oxford City manager Mark Jones praised his National League South club as Matt Paterson earned them a 1-0 victory at League Two Colchester. Jones said: “I’m just delighted for the players. We’ve struggled a bit this season but today’s a fantastic day for us.”

Maidstone stunned League Two side Cheltenham with a 4-2 win. The other nonLeague sides in the second round draw are AFC Fylde, Hereford and Gateshead, who defeated Kidderminster, AFC Telford and Chelmsford City. Evo-Stik Premier Division side Shaw Lane’s journey ended as Mansfield’s Danny Rose netted two late goals to send the Stags through 3-1.

Doncaster came from 2-0 down to beat 10-man Ebbsfleet 6-2 while there were 5-0 wins for Shrewsbury and Stevenage against Aldershot and Nantwich Town. Rochdale thumped Bromley 4-0.
