Christopher to play it his way

-

THE man who replaces Kevin Spacey in upcoming film, All The Money In The World, following multiple allegations of sexual assault against the actor, has spoken about the situation for the first time.

Currently on the promotional trail for another film The Man Who Invented Christmas, Canadian actor Christopher Plummer, finds the whole thing hugely upsetting.

“The situation is very sad, because he’s such a talented guy,” the 87-year-old says of the former House Of Cards star. “But I’ve got to forget that and go and do it, because it’s a very well-written script and [director] Ridley Scott has been very good.”

Christopher will be superimposed over Kevin in the film, which has already been shot and is due out on December 22. Reshooting began yesterday and sees Christopher taking on the role of J Paul Getty. It is a retelling of a real-life scandal – the kidnapping of the oil tycoon’s grandson. The Sound Of Music actor was quick to add that rather than replacing the 58-year-old, he would instead be seeking to recreate the role in his own way: “It isn’t replacing. In a funny way it’s starting all over again because it is going to be different, naturally.”

According to some sources, Ridley originally had his eye on Christopher for the role, but decided on the American Beauty star instead as he felt his name would pull in more box office millions. Accusations were made by several men, including Richard Dreyfuss’s son Harry and Star Trek actor Anthony Rapp, of Spacey harassing them. Anthony and another anonymous accuser were just 14 at the time of the alleged incidents. Spacey is currently being investigated by British police for another claim of sexual assault.
