Green to face PMQs despite sex pest claim
DAMIAN Green will today take Prime Minister’s questions, despite being under investigation over sexual harassment allegations.
He will deputise for Theresa May, who is on a tour of the Middle East.
The First Secretary is being investigated over claims he touched former Tory activist Kate Maltby’s knee while making advances towards her in a London pub in 2015.
A former police officer later claimed the politician had pornographic material on his office computer when it was confiscated in a raid during his time as a shadow minister.
Investigation
Mr Green, who has known Mrs May since they were at university together, has faced calls to stand down until the investigation by Cabinet Office civil servant Sue Gray is completed.
But a Downing Street spokesman confirmed that, as Mrs May’s deputy, he would enter the fray at PMQs today.
The spokesman added that “the investigation has not been completed yet”.
Mrs May arrived in the Middle East yesterday, hoping to bolster links with the region as Britain prepares to leave the EU.
During her three-day tour, the Prime Minister will hold talks in Saudi Arabia and Jordan, two countries she visited in April.
