Banned...migrant who was driving to ‘Hungarian laws’

-

“Driving without a licence puts other people at danger, and without insurance too.

“The people at risk of being injured by you could end up in a wheelchair with severe injuries.

“They would not be able to claim any help even if it isn’t their fault because you don’t have a licence.

“It is also of concern you were driving with two young children in the vehicle.”

Motoring laws in the UK Hungary are strikingly similar.

Drivers in Hungary have to pass tests in theory, practical driving and basic first aid.

Lakatos, of Bolton, argued that he would suffer “exceptional and hardship” if banned over last June’s arrest.

He said: “It would be hard for me to carry on as normal if I didn’t have the car or my licence.

“I am unsure of how the licence works because it’s not the same as in my country.

But he admitted: “I won’t lose my job if I cannot drive.”

Lakatos admitted driving without a licence or insurance and driving in a manner likely to cause danger by having two young children in the front seat.

The court heard he was given six penalty points last February after being caught driving on a provisional licence without insurance.
