Christmas party’s over for bosses
OFFICE Christmas parties are not much fun for many of those in charge, a poll shows.
The survey of 1,000 managers by the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) found that most believed a festive get-together was good for “team bonding”.
But 20 per cent said they could not relax because they were worried they would have to deal with workers getting drunk, taking drugs or begaving inappropriately.
Phil James, chief executive of the ILM, said: “The office Christmas party remains a huge part of the workplace culture.
“But it needs to be managed correctly.
“The money companies spend is a worthwhile investment in employee engagement but we must be mindful of what kind of environment we create and of how different individuals can experience the party.”
