Anti-Semitic song causes court uproar

- By John Twomey

A BLOGGER mocked Holocaust victim Anne Frank in a song posted on the internet, a court heard yesterday.

Alison Chabloz, 53, also derided prominent survivors of Nazi death camps, including Nobel Prize winner Elie Wiesel, it was alleged.

Chabloz appeared to mouth the words yesterday as the song was played at Westminster magistrates court in central London. There was applause from her supporters at the end of the tape and District Judge John Zani threatened to clear the public gallery if the outburst was repeated.

Chabloz sang: “Did the Holocaust ever happen? Was it just a bunch of lies?” the court was told.

In the song, Auschwitz concentration camp is described as “a theme park just for fools”.

Chabloz landed in the dock over the song and two others that were also posted on the internet.

Karen Robinson, prosecuting, said: “By the standards of an open and multiracial society, the songs are grossly offensive.”

One song claims Anne Frank’s Diary was fabricated and accuses Mr Wiesel of lying about his experiences, the court was told.

Chabloz, of Glossop, Derbyshire, denies three charges of sending obscene material by public communication networks.

She also denies causing obscene material to be sent.

The hearing was adjourned until March, when the defence case will be heard.
