18 years for thug in £2m raid on tycoon’s family
A BURGLAR who terrorised the wife of retail tycoon Sir Philip Green’s stepson with foot-long wire cutters as she got out of the shower was jailed for 18 years yesterday.
Robert Lewis also pointed the cutters at Magda Palos’s six-year-old daughter in a raid at the family’s £18million mansion near Lord’s cricket ground in St John’s Wood, London.
Lewis then fled with £2million of jewellery in a briefcase. Three weeks later, he lost control of a Mercedes in a police chase. He threatened them with a machine pistol and was later arrested at his girlfriend’s flat.
Lewis, 43, of Paddington, west London, had denied the raid but he was found guilty at Harrow Crown Court. Judge Rosa Dean told him: “To threaten a child before her mother is wicked...I must commend Mrs Palos.”
