Yes IN any walk of life, everyone should try and push themselves as hard as they can to achieve their goals, no more so than in acting.

It’s terrific news that the cream of our acting talent is pushing the best in the business at the forthcoming Oscars (“Britons aim for Oscars glory”, January 24).

Our country has always had a renowned talent for the arts and theatre and the fact such top names are in the mix to win only goes to prove that when it comes to the performing arts we can hold our own with the best in the world. Come on you guys and girls! Maggie Watson,

Aberdeen No WHILE our top acting talent should be commended for their efforts and success, I can only help but think that such talent will ultimately drift away from these shores.

In my opinion there is a dearth of talent on modern TV, with the cream of the crop moving on to new challenges and leaving unimaginable voids behind.

Soaps and reality TV have become the norm, with little in the way of substance to promote them.
