Aubameyang’s Arsenal ordeal

- Matthew Dunn

BRIGHTON striker Glenn Murray is in line to face Middlesbrough tomorrow despite his arrest in connection with an alleged £1.1million tax fraud.

Murray, right was arrested on Tuesday morning with his wife Stacey but Brighton manager Chris Hughton said: “Glenn will be in the squad for Saturday.” ARSENAL are ready for a game of brinkmanship with Borussia Dortmund over Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s transfer after the German club claimed they were cooling on the idea of a move.

The Gabon striker, 28, is back in the squad for their game against Freiburg tomorrow with the club unhappy that Arsenal’s second bid of £43.6million is still about £10m shy of their own valuation of him.

But Aubameyang has made no secret of his desire to move to the Premier League and Ivan Gazidis, Gunners’ chief executive, is set to sweat things out with the window due to close on Wednesday. Meanwhile, the exit of Alexis Sanchez to Manchester United looks to have provoked a pointed farewell from Mohamed Elneny. The Egyptian, a key player in Wednesday’s 2-1 Carabao Cup semi-final win over Chelsea, tweeted: “Now there are players fighting every minute for the logo and the fans. #WeAreTheArsenal Wembley time.” JORDAN HENDERSON is set to return after being sidelined for a month with a hamstring injury. The Liverpool captain, left, could figure against West Brom in the FA Cup at Anfield tomorrow. He has not played since limping out of the 3-3 draw at Arsenal on December 22 but manager Jurgen Klopp will be cautious due to his previous injury record. ●SOUTHAMPTON last night signed striker Guido Carrillo until 2021 for a reported fee of £19.2million from Monaco.
