The massive support for our foreign aid crusade

-

WHAT more will it take to convince the Government to Stop The Foreign Aid Madness? Yesterday we presented 100,000 coupons to Downing Street demanding that this criminal waste of our money should cease. There is no widespread public support at all to continue giving 0.7 per cent of our budget elsewhere, especially when it could be so much better used at home.

We have garnered a good deal of support within the political class too and make no mistake: we will not drop this crusade until we have achieved our aim. We have a habit of winning our crusades – we were the first newspaper to demand Brexit – and we shall fight on until we win this one too.

For it is not simply that we are wasting our own money: we are propping up corrupt regimes in some parts of the world by our foolishness and subsidising trivial projects in others. Given the momentous claims upon taxpayers’ money elsewhere, especially in the NHS, it beggars belief that we are still acting in such a way.

And it is inexplicable that the Conservatives are not latching on to what is so clearly a vote winner. They are recovering strongly elsewhere and, as the reality of what Mr Corbyn and his Trotskyite henchmen would do to this country sinks in, the Tories have an increasingly strong lead in the polls. This would give them the final push. They should act now.
