Zohore fires Bluebirds

-

KENNETH ZOHORE steered Cardiff to a 1-0 win at Ipswich to keep the Welsh side on track for automatic promotion to the Premier League.

The Dane stabbed home in the 65th minute for his fifth goal of the season after Gary Madine had set him up.

But there was an element of fortune about the winner as Zohore forced the ball home at the second attempt.

The ball first hit him on an arm as he miskicked a volley but referee Andy Davies ruled there had been no deliberate infringement.

The Bluebirds remain in second place after shading an unspectacular encounter in front of Portman Road’s lowest attendance in almost 20 years. Grant Ward was closest to scoring for the hosts but was foiled by a good first half save by keeper Neil Etheridge.

Kasey Palmer snatched a late leveller to earn Derby a 2-2 home draw against Leeds.

The Rams only had themselves to blame for not getting maximum points as they wasted several chances with Tom Lawrence twice hitting the woodwork.

Leeds showed the way by taking a 35th-minute lead against the run of play with Pierre-Michel Lasogga bagging his third goal in as many games under new boss Paul Heckingbottom, heading in a Stuart Dallas cross.

Derby levelled just before the break when Andreas Weimann drilled a shot underneath Felix Wiedwald.

Leeds restored their lead through substitute Ezgjan Alioski, who headed in when his shot had been saved by Scott Carson.

But Palmer struck from a corner late-on to rescue a vital point for the home side.

Striker Bobby Reid came to Bristol City’s rescue as they drew 1-1 at home against promotion rivals Fulham.

He grabbed his 16th goal of the season on 35 minutes after exchanging passes with Josh Brownhill

On-loan Newcastle striker Aleksandar Mitrovic had put Fulham ahead with his first goal since arriving on loan from Newcastle with a close-range finish in the 14th minute.
