Sturridge set for big finale

- RICHARD TANNER Harry Talbot

DANIEL STURRIDGE hopes to conjure up a Hollywood ending to West Brom’s disastrous season.

The on-loan Liverpool striker has been in Los Angeles trying to sort out the latest hamstring injury to blight his career.

Sturridge is believed to have forked out for the trip from his own pocket but that would have been loose change to the millionaire star – he has already pocketed £960,000 in wages since joining West Brom only eight weeks ago.

Sturridge, 28, flew out to see specialists and undergo a personal rehabilitation programme. He has played just 77 minutes for the Baggies in three appearances.

Alan Pardew’s men have seven games left – including clashes with Manchester United, Liverpool and Tottenham – and need to win at least six of them to stand a chance of a miracle escape

They go into Saturday’s home game with Burnley on the back of eight consecutive defeats in league and cup.

Sturridge looks unlikely to feature but could be ready in time for the visit of Swansea on April 7. DAVID DE GEA hopes to take some consolation for missing out on the league title by beating Manchester City rival Ederson to win his first Golden Glove award.

With eight league games to go, the Manchester United goalkeeper, right, leads the way with 15 clean sheets, one more than Ederson and two more than Thibaut Courtois and Hugo Lloris.
