Will you be burnt by the new energy price rises? You could actually be saving up to £537^ on your bills

-

he majority of the Big Six energy suppliers have pushed forth a wave of new price rises already this year, led by British Gas. The moves will increase the financial strain of millions and are expected to see the remaining suppliers follow soon.

Hikes of 5.5% from British Gas will add £60 to the average bill and come off the back of 12.5% price rises made on electricity just late last year. The moves are likely to see the main bulk of the population – currently on expensive Standard Variable Tariffs (SVTs) and other default plans, pay £300 in excess of the cheapest deals available on the market.*

However there are alternatives to just accepting constant energy price increases – which have brought annual average energy bills to a worrying £1,162. The best of these are price comparison sites.

For example at energyhelpline – a founding member of Ofgem’s Confidence Code – you can compare every available tariff on the market in seconds and also switch to more deals than with any other service. The impartial and independent specialist energy comparer does this free of charge both online and via customer service advisors on the phone.

Contrary to popular belief, switching involves no interruption to supply. With increasing knowledge of the savings to be made, switching is more popular than ever with over 5.5 million switchers last year.
