Oldham wield axe on Corney

-

OLDHAM have announced that Simon Corney is no longer chairman of the club.

The news comes three days after the Latics were relegated to League Two. They will play in the bottom tier of the Football League for the first time since 1971.

The club said in a statement: “We can today announce changes at the senior level of the club. Following today’s shareholder meeting, Simon Corney is no longer the chairman of the football club and has been removed from his position on the board of directors. The club will not make any further comment at this stage.”

In January Corney sold the club he bought in 2004 to Moroccan Abdallah Lemsagam but stayed in his post to aid the transition.

Seven players will leave Boundary Park following relegation, including defender Brian Wilson after four years at the club. He is joined by Tope Obadeyi, Abdelhakim Omrani, Paul Green, Ollie Banks, Mason Fawns and Kallum Mantack. All have been released. SIMON GRAYSON has left Bradford after deciding not to extend his short-term deal. The former Leeds, Preston and Sunderland manager joined the Bantams in February following the dismissal of Stuart McCall, overseeing three wins in 14 matches. Grayson, left, said: “This was an extremely difficult decision as I have enjoyed my time at Valley Parade.”

GOAL-LINE technology will be used in all of the Football League play-offs, having been deployed solely in the Championship during the regular season.
