Xia bans CEO in Villa tax row

-

WEST HAM have agreed to sign right-back Ryan Fredericks from Premier League new boys Fulham.

The 25-year-old, right, will ink a four-year contract when his Fulham deal expires on July 1, becoming new boss Manuel Pellegrini’s first signing.

“We’ve been speaking about it for a while,” said Fredericks. “It’s amazing for it to finally happen.” of mounting concern over a lack of cash flow from China, where club owner Dr Tony Xia is based.

Xia last night stepped in as interim chief executive after suspending Wyness following disagreements between the former Aberdeen and Everton CEO and Villa’s Chinese ownership. There is no allegation of any wrongdoing on Wyness’s part.

Villa were last night in discussions with HMRC and sources spoke with confidence that they can resolve the issue and remove the threat of a windingup petition, which has not been issued so far.

But revelation of the missed payment will increase concern among fans of a potential firesale of players to help Villa fill a growing financial black hole.

The news comes in the wake of Villa’s defeat by Fulham in the Championship play-off final and Xia issuing a statement last week warning of significant cost cuts and refusing to guarantee the future of boss Steve Bruce. EVERTON owner Farhad Moshiri has refused to sanction another spending spree. New head coach Marco Silva and director of football Marcel Brands will look to sell Kevin Mirallas, Sandro and Ashley Williams, plus US-bound Wayne Rooney, left, to raise funds. “We need to offload players to raise money to spend, and also for salaries,” said Brands.

CARLISLE have appointed John Sheridan as their new manager. Sheridan, who was eased out at Fleetwood to make way for Joey Barton, replaces Keith Curle.
