Meghan Markle is a one-off in Windsor clan

Daily Express - - FREDERICK FORSYTH -

THE ROYAL Wedding is long over and one notices some press features referring to the former Meghan Markle which can only be described as snide.

My reaction: give the girl a break. It was not she who drenched the whole affair with the most glutinous sycophancy. That too was the media. I cannot recall a royal bride ever who did not come from a pretty sheltered or privileged background.

The Duchess of Cambridge was Kate Middleton, raised in a country manor of upper middle class parentage. Princess Diana was the daughter of Earl Spencer, raised in Althorp stately home.

And so on back to Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon, the Queen Mother. Meghan Markle alone has known hard times, poverty and struggle making a career in TV acting. In that she is truly a “first”.
