Tearful Pippa crowned the best home cook in Britain

Daily Express - - DAY & NIGHT -

ASIAN food enthusiast and keen blogger Pippa Middlehurst was named Britain’s Best Home Cook in a tense final last night.

The 29-year-old medical researcher from Salford, Greater Manchester, was crowned the winner of the BBC One show after surviving eight gruelling weeks against nine other contestants.

Fighting back tears, she said: “I never thought I could win this. I’m only here because of my boyfriend Christian. It means a lot because he believed in me and I didn’t believe in myself.”

During the final Pippa and two other finalists, Dipa Jakhu, 44, and Philip Friend, 48, were asked to prepare a two-course dinner for judges Mary Berry, Chris Bavin and Dan Doherty.

Pippa’s winning meal featured an ox cheek massaman curry with jasmine rice, grilled prawns and a Thai herb salad.

Head judge Mary described Pippa as “an inspiration to all cooks at home”.
