Posh wedded bliss begins with a roast

-

CHICKEN TONIGHT: Sloaney novelist Sophia Money-Coutts I WAS entranced by novelist Sophia MoneyCoutts’ article – a posh people’s guide to happiness (her new book The Plus One is out now).

If you are upper class your cup of joy is rather fuller than our humble mug. They do have castles and inherited furniture not to mention trust funds to cheer them up. But what resonated was posh people’s “engagement roast chicken”.

She describes it as “a dish cooked by young Sloanes in the hope that their other half will be so bowled over by the deliciousness of the chicken that they propose”. This happened with Meghan and Harry.

I may not be posh but I can confirm it works equally well with chicken soup. My other half was wooed and won by my ancestral soup. He was so enamoured he proposed on the spot.

Twelve years later we are still engaged and he is still waiting for another bowl of my amber nectar.
