DAY TO SAVE JACQUES VERT
RETAIL tycoon Philip Day is to add to his collection of fashion brands by acquiring the womenswear label Jacques Vert from administrators.
The Edinburgh Woollen Mill owner, who has previously bought the likes of Peacocks, Jaeger and Austin Reed and is one of the parties interested in rescuing House of Fraser, is close to a deal for Calvetron Brands.
Calvetron, which includes Precis, Dash and Windsmoor as well as Jacques Vert, went into administration in May with the loss of 1,000 UK jobs.
Its performance had been undermined by weak sales at House of Fraser and Debenhams, from where a number of its concessions were trading.
A spokesman for Day declined to comment.
