Transfer hell for Warnock

- Alex Bywater

NEIL WARNOCK admits that he is having a transfer nightmare at Cardiff.

The veteran Bluebirds boss is desperate to add a striker and a midfielder to the Premier League new arrivals.

But with the transfer window closing on Thursday, Warnock has had to deal with a series of setbacks in his search for new faces. He said: “I’m disappointed we haven’t got one or two more in, if I’m honest, but that’s life.

“We’ve had knockback after knockback. We are a bit thin on the ground if we get injuries, but I’ve got one or two ideas about how we might just supplement the squad. They might not get in the team, but I have got to bring a couple of bodies in and if it’s not possible, we’ll go with what we’ve got.”

Warnock missed out on a loan deal for Liverpool midfielder Marko Grujic and saw interest in Watford striker Troy Deeney come to nothing.

Cardiff’s big kick off is at Bournemouth on Saturday.
