Out says Barkley

-

have only recently returned after breaks following the World Cup.

Barkley, who fell out of England contention because of injury and loss of form, does not care where he has to play – as long as he plays.

He said: “For any manager I’ll play any style of play, but for this manager it’s my type of style. He’s an attacking manager, he wants exciting football, his team high up the pitch pressing, scoring goals.”

Sarri said after the City defeat that Barkley is an important part of his plans and the player added: “That is a boost with a new manager. I’ve started every preseason game, so that is a positive.

“It’s a big season for me. Last year I had a few injury problems but I’ve worked hard and I’m feeling strong and ready to go.”

Chelsea meet Lyon at Stamford Bridge tonight in their final warm-up before Saturday’s Premier League opener at Huddersfield.
