Spray tan alert... you could end up looking like the Incredible Hulk
IT’S a picture to make anyone think twice about going for a fake sun tan.
Two friends who tried the beauty treatment ended up as unintended Incredible Hulk lookalikes.
Laura Denton and Rosie Berry, both 29, were warned that a new spray might initially leave them with a “slightly different colour”.
But when they looked at themselves in the mirror afterwards they found they had become completely changed into shades of green and brown.
The horrified pair fled home from the salon in Northallerton, North Yorkshire, and managed to scrub off the tan after 45 minutes under the shower.
The experience left them shocked but now they can see the funny side and they have posted the “after” photo they took at the time.
It has gone viral online and Rosie hopes it will act as a warning to others.
She said: “Now I use fake tan and apply it myself, and if I ever go for a spray tan, I make sure I won’t go green again.”
Laura said of their misfortune: “We decided to treat ourselves and we were so excited. The salon told us that they were going to be using a new brand of tan and that it may leave our skin a slightly different colour but it would only be subtle. “When we got out of the tanning rooms, we looked at each other. It was definitely not a subtle colour. I looked like a female Hulk. I was bright green. “It was a shame it wasn’t Halloween and we weren’t dressing up. Trying not to panic, we linked arms and ran to the car so we could get home and shower.”
Rosie said: “I was completely shocked when I looked in the mirror and realised how dark we had gone. I am usually so pale so it was such a surprise to see myself brown.”
Laura said the tan might have seemed a waste of money at the time but was “worth it” for the memory.
She added: “Eventually the tan did come off and we were left as pasty as we were in the first place.
“Whenever I tell my friends about our fake tan nightmare, they think I’m being dramatic.”
Laura and Rosie, then in their early 20s, complained to the salon ...but declined an offer of a free respray.
It has since closed down.
