Liz in a right Royal lather

-

LIZ HURLEY is said to have been left distraught after losing her most prominent acting role to date in TV drama The Royals.

The 53-year-old, who played matriarch Queen Helena Henstridge in the drama based on a fictional royal family, got the news that the show would be axed shortly before it was announced publicly on Thursday.

Liz, who is a prolific social media user and made no mention of the canned series on her page up to the time of going to press, is apparently concerned about bagging more lucrative acting work because of her age.

“Liz is gutted,” a show insider tells Day & Night.

“This was the first time she’s had a long-term, recurring role and she’s worried about struggling to land any more as an older

actress.” The show helped establish her in the US as more than a model.

She was given many high-profile appearances on the back of it, such as on the highly rated The Today Show.

Sales of her swimwear increased.

“She even had her son Damian appear in several episodes, which was meant to be a launchpad for him to get more acting work.”

The drama, which was launched in 2015, ended after four seasons having been seen being seen by less than 500,000 viewers. The first season had 1.3 million fans tuning in per episode.

The Royals was caught up in drama off-screen.

Creator and show-runner Mark Schwan was fired in December after multiple sexual harassment allegations against him.
