My wife told to sign up for
FORMER football manager Harry Redknapp has jetted out to join I’m A Celebrity campmates…despite never having seen the survival reality show.
And the 71-year-old admitted his wife had told him: “You’re mad!”
The former Tottenham boss spoke as fellow contestants landed in Brisbane, Australia, and the full cast of the show was revealed.
He joins DIY SOS presenter Nick Knowles, comedy actress Emily Atack, Doctor Who actor and entertainer John Barrowman, Coronation Street star Sair Khan, The Chase expert Anne Hegerty and X Factor runner-up Fleur East.
The Vamps star James McVey, former EastEnders star Rita Simons and Hollyoaks actor Malique Thompson-Dwyer are also competing in the jungle Down Under.
This Morning star Holly Willoughby will be standing in for Ant McPartlin to co-host the show.
Ant is taking time out from his presenting duties following a battle with prescription drugs addiction and a court appearance for drink-driving.
Holly joins Declan Donnelly in Australia as the celebrities deal with life in a jungle camp, creepy crawlies, horrifying bush tucker trials and terrifying tasks in a bid to be crowned king or queen of the jungle.
Harry admitted he had agreed to sign up for the show without watching a single episode.
He said: “I have not SOS man Nick lands in Oz yesterday actually watched the programme. I watch sport all day and all night when I’m at home and we are out three to four nights a week. My wife thinks I am mad. She has seen the show and she has told me I should watch it before I do it. “My son, [football pundit] Jamie, thinks I am definitely not the full shilling! And other son [model] Mark is like, ‘Are you sure you want to do this, dad?’ But it will be good fun.” The surprise entrant is John Barrowman – not previously mentioned amid weeks of speculation. The openly gay singer and stage actor said he is “happy to be king – or queen – of the Jungle” if he wins.
