Tormented girl, 10, in suicide bid

- By Richard McAllister

A MOTHER has posted heartbreaking pictures of her daughter in a hospital bed on her 10th birthday after she attempted suicide following months of bullying.

The child overdosed on pills she took after being taunted over her weight at school.

She was rushed to hospital on Monday – the day before her birthday – after her mother noticed tablets had gone missing.

In a desperate bid to warn other parents about the dangers of bullying, her mother posted pictures of the schoolgirl, who the Daily Express has decided not to name, in hospital on Facebook.

The images show her lying in agony.

Her mother, from Worcestershire, said her child’s school failed to offer proper support.

She said: “I knew she wasn’t right because she wasn’t eating and seemed really withdrawn after school. She admitted she’d taken some pills.

“I took her to the GP and he said we should go straight to hospital.

“I thought my daughter was going to die.

“My daughter is being bullied yet nothing is done about it.

“You never expect to see your own daughter on her 10th birthday in hospital after a suicide attempt. It’s heartbreaking.”

The single mother, who has two other children, said she confronted the parents of the girl who bullied her daughter.

She said: “I showed them the pictures of her in hospital.

“They just laughed at me and swore at me.

The girl’s headteacher denied the school had not taken appropriate measures.

She said: “We were made aware of these bullying allegations and took immediate action, following the relevant school policies and procedures.”
