UK holds all the aces on Brexit deal
THE United Kingdom is about to leave the European Union (“This Brexit deal is best for Britain”, November 14).
The UK will not impose a border in Ireland, the Irish will not impose a border so if the EU bureaucrats want a border, let them impose one, construct one, finance one and more importantly, police one.
If the EU wants to supply German and French cars and wine and Greek olives to this country then they should be invited to offer us a trade deal.
Presumably the car manufacturers, wine makers and olive growers will have something to say to their leaders, who will therefore put pressure on the EU negotiators to reach a reasonable deal rather than no deal.
The EU is in decline. They know that when we leave the tide will turn and other citizens within the EU will see that their contributions will need to increase or their benefits will reduce considerably without our net contribution of billions of pounds per year. David Hardman,
