New RBS chief-in-making
ROYAL BANK OF SCOTLAND has fuelled speculation it is lining up a successor to chief Ross McEwan after promoting Alison Rose.
Rose, who runs the commercial and private banking division, is to become deputy chief and director of NatWest Holdings, the ringfenced holding company for state-controlled lender’s retail banking operations. She will deputise for McEwan and “lead on key strategic projects” in her new role from December 3.
McEwan, who has been in charge for five years, said: “Her commitment and focus on our customers will also be a strong addition to board discussions and decision-making.”
