Morgan calls on refs to put cards on the table

-

LEICESTER captain Wes Morgan wants referees to sit down with his team and explain what is a yellow card and what is not these days.

But there was no doubting the dismissal of James Maddison, to such an extent that he made a public apology on Instagram for his blatant dive.

Maddison, above, became the fourth Leicester player to see red this campaign.

Morgan said: “Four red cards is too much

and we need to learn but also referees need to tell us what a yellow card is these days.

“There seem to be a lot of yellows getting dished out for minimal things.”

Maddison had already been booked for hacking down Anthony Knockaert when referee Chris Kavanagh dismissed him in the 28th minute. The second yellow card came when he went to ground under a challenge from Shane Duffy.

Maddison wrote on Instagram: “Apologies to everyone for what happened today.

“Nobody wants to see diving in our beautiful game. I was anticipating contact that never came, but that’s no excuse. It’s a mistake and I will learn from it.”

Glenn Murray put Brighton ahead in the 15th minute but Jamie Vardy salvaged a point for Leicester from the penalty spot 11 minutes from full-time.

Seagulls defender Bernardo, signed for £9million from Leipzig, was named man of the match on only his second Premier League start.

“It was not the result we were looking for, especially given the circumstances,” he said.

“We played well 11 against 11 but in the second half we came back not as focused and paid an expensive price for that.”
