Grandfather just lost the will to live

- By David Pilditch

THE GRANDDAUGHTER of victim William Clark blamed fraudster Christopher Barnes for his death last night saying that he had just lost the will to live after being targeted.

Estate agent worker Leah Clark, 30, said “It is an absolute disgrace what these people have done to their victims.

“These people are the lowest of the low. They targeted my grandad because of his vulnerability.

“They showed no care, no compassion and gave no thought or consideration to the impact that their cruel and heartless actions had on their victims.

“Today brought closure with the judge and jury putting four of them behind bars.”

Ms Clark, pictured right, added: “I do believe that he [Barnes] should have been given a tougher sentence but the judge had to stick to his guidelines.

“I’m speaking out about this because I want to raise awareness about this type of crime to prevent it happening to other people.”

Leah, from north London, backed the Daily Express Respect For The Elderly crusade which backs longer jail sentences for vicious thugs who prey on the elderly.
