Pochettino won’t rock the boat as he’s happy

- By Neil McLeman

MAURICIO Pochettino says he is happy at his Tottenham “home” and that finishing in the top four this season will be “more than success”.

The Argentinian has been repeatedly linked with Real Madrid and Manchester United despite signing a new five-year contract in May.

Pochettino said: “The most important thing is I feel so happy here.

“Tottenham have given me the value. I feel happy here in Tottenham because I feel the recognition for our job.

“When Daniel Levy extended my contract for five years, it is because he believed in that moment and period, we are the best people to manage this boat and this club. It is recognition for us. The most important thing is how you are made to feel in your home.”

Defender Danny Rose said “it’s not nice any more” to play at Wembley after only 33,000 fans turned up for the midweek win over Southampton. But Pochettino said: “If you ask me, I’m so happy to play at Wembley.

“It is an honour to be here and a pleasure. When I played at Wembley, it was a dream come true. “Every game I play at Wembley is a gift. And if we play one game more we think how lucky we are. For me, it is the best place in the world to play football.”

Pochettino said he would “maybe rotate some players” tonight but Kieran Trippier is set to miss the next two games with the recurrence of a groin strain suffered at the World Cup.

The Tottenham manager called Gareth Southgate’s decision to play the England right-back in the third-place play-off “a little weird” and added: “He cannot cope with 90 minutes and that’s why we cannot make another mistake.”
