No laughing matter, raps Emery

ARSENAL players who were filmed appearing to pass out under the influence of nitrous oxide in a pre-season party have been reminded of their responsibilities to the club by manager Unai Emery.

Alexandre Lacazette, right, Matteo Guendouzi, Mesut Ozil, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Sead Kolasinac were all caught inhaling the chemical known as laughing gas during a team-bonding session in London back in August.

After images appeared on the front page of a national newspaper, each player has been warned about their future behaviour but escaped any sort of disciplinary fine after speaking with Emery at the club’s London Colney training ground ahead of today’s home game against Huddersfield.

Senior officials at the club, including director of football Raul Sanllehi supported the action, but Emery is keen to take direct responsibility for the behaviour of the players. By reputation, he is a strict disciplinarian who even banned fruit juice at the start of the season because he was worried about his players’ sugar intake.
