BQW House, 1 Back Lane, Edgware,Middlesex, HA8 0HS info@bqwatches.com - bqwatches.com BEN STOKES has publicly apologised for the first time for his Bristol brawl following a disciplinary hearing that allows him to continue his England career with immediate effect.
After pleading guilty to bringing the game into disrepute, Stokes was fined and effectively banned for six matches for his part in the late-night bust-up and then another two matches for a video in which he appears to be mocking the son of Katie Price.
But the cricket disciplinary commission panel decided he had served his punishment by missing 16 England games from the date of the incident, including an entire Ashes campaign in Australia. And in the case of
Alex Hales, who also admitted to the charges that included inappropriate images on social media, he was banned for six games with two already served and the other four suspended.
“I accept the decision of the panel,” said Stokes. “I had entered guilty pleas into bringing the game into disrepute much earlier in the process and I want to thank the panel for their time and consideration.
“I’ve already apologised to my team-mates, coaches and support staff for the consequences of my actions in Bristol.
“I regret the incident ever happened and I apologise to England supporters and the public for bringing the game into disrepute. Cricket and family are my life.
“This has been a huge burden for 15 months. I’m relieved to get back playing the game I love without this hanging over me.”
His mocking video made up half his fine and he will donate that £15,000 to charity, while Hales was hit with a £17,500 fine with £10,000 of it suspended.
